Say Konnichiwa to Gateway Ekamai – Bangkok’s Latest Shopping Mall

Sitting right next door to the Ekamai Skytrain station, on Sukhumvit Road, Gateway offers a wealth of diversity.  Opened to the public on July 18th 2012, the mall has a distinctly Japanese concept.  A unique design, a convenient location and a local Japanese community all provide what is hoped will be a winning combination.

Japanese customers are expected to lead the way, and, accordingly, the mall features a great selection of Japanese shops and restaurants.  The Japanese community is only expected to provide around 15 to 20 percent of total visitors, however, and there are therefore other outlets in place to appeal to a broader customer base.

The eight storey building sits on land measuring over nine rai, has total floor space of around 93,000 square metres, provides leasable areas measuring around 32,000 square metres and is worth approximately two billion baht. 

Most outlets are now fully operational, but there are other stores still to open.  When complete the complex will provide over 400 shops covering the dining, shopping, fashion, IT, lifestyle, health and beauty and edutainment sectors.
