A High Class Arrival - Rolls-Royce Comes to Thailand

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars held a press conference at the Siam Kempinski Hotel on Monday March 5th to announce that Millionaire Auto has been appointed as the company's dealer partner in Bangkok.


 


The appointment is part of Rolls-Royce's plans to expand throughout the Asia Pacific region.

Pints Galore @ The Pintsman

General Manager Eddie Grant raises a pint to the success of his brand new venture in Silom Road.  The Pintsman is Bangkok's latest gastro pub, and features an extensive range of beers from around the globe.  At present there are 10 draft beers available, along with 45 different bottled beers, but Eddie is already planning to extend the list with new varieties; he recently added Spanish special Estrella Inedit, which is flavoured with coriander, orange peel and liquorice, and is the first beer to be specifically created to accompany food.

Thai Airways Re-introduces Sawasdee Inflight Magazine

Thai Airways held a cocktail party at the Royal Maneeya Ballroom at the Renaissance Bangkok Ratchaprasong Hotel on the 28th of February 2012 to celebrate the new face of their inflight magazine, Sawasdee.


Called the Sawsdee Refresh Party, the event introduced the revamped monthly magazine that has been redesigned to appeal to sophisticated travellers around the globe.

Champagne and Oyster Festival @ RedSky Restaurant

Work In Situ @ Pullman Bangkok King Power

Chiang Mai born artist Pakitsilp Varamissara is currently holding an exhibition of his art, "Work In Situ" in the lobby of Pullman Bangkok King Power Hotel.  The display, which features giant canvasses suspended from the ceiling, is being held as part of French cultural festival La Fete 2012.

VIE Hotel Bangkok Turns Three in Style

Indonesian Food Festival @ Centara Grand

Indonesian Ambassador H.E. Lutfi Rauf was the guest of honour as the Centara Grand at CentralWorld opened their Indonesian Food Festival on Friday 17th February.


The festival takes place at the Ginger Restaurant on the 24th floor from February 17th to 27th, 2012, and features the creations of visiting chefs Sarjito and Sumardi, from The Sultan Hotel in Jakarta.

 

The buffet will be available for lunch and dinner and will feature well known Indonesian favourites such as Rendang Daging (beef stewed in coconut milk), Ikan Colo-Colo (grilled fish with sweet soy and chilli sauce), Opor Ayam (chicken in lemongrass sauce) and assorted satay with peanut sauce.

Sichuan Surprise @ Liu Chinese Restaurant

Zesty aromas were to the fore when Conrad Hotel launched “Sichuan Surprise” at the renowned Liu Chinese Restaurant in Bangkok on February 16th.  Guests were treated to a six course menu that was accompanied by Farnese wines.  “Five Plates of Sichuan Cold Dishes” were served as the starter, along with a 2010 Farnese Trebbiano d’Abruzzo. 

Sichuan pickled vegetable soup with shredded fish and bamboo shoot was then served, followed by fried prawns with pickles, preserved chilli and minced meat, plus braised scallops with YuXiang sauce.  A 2007 Farnese Montepulciano d’Abruzzo was chosen to go with the courses.

Year of the Wine Dragon @ Decanter

The St. Regis Hotel in Bangkok was recently host to a wine tasting party to celebrate “The Year of The Wine Dragon”.  

The Year of the Dragon is considered the most auspicious of the 12 zodiac signs, and Chinese dancers were on hand to mark the occasion as fin-fabulous is needed, in conjunction with Bert and Gertrud Salomon, introduced a range of white and red wines to the Thai market.

Winemaker couple Bert and Gertrud are iconic figures in the industry, with their wines considered to ably transcend regions and categories.

Fifteen different wines from Austria, South Australia and New Zealand were paired with delicious and meaningful food creations in the hotel’s Decanter outlet.
