Lucky 99 as Le Meridien Opens New Koh Samui Resort and Spa

23.03.2012

Le Meridien Hotel in Bangkok held a cocktail party on March 22nd to celebrate the opening of Le Meridien Koh Samui Villas and Suites.  Designated as "Destination Koh Samui", the party celebrated the establishment of Le Meridien's 99th worldwide property.

Global Brand Manager Emily Shattan (above, right, with Arnaud Champenois, Asia Pacific Brand Director for W Hotels and Le Meridien) jetted in from New York to host the event.  She explained how opening the 99th property was considered doubly auspicious as the number nine is regarded as a lucky number throughout Asia.  Feng Shui principles were adhered to prior to construction at Lamai Beach, giving the resort further added benefits.  Considered Sino-Thai in appearance, the property marks Starwood Hotels and Resorts growing footprint in Thailand.

Rock Around Asia Opening @ Imperial Queen's Park Hotel, Bangkok

10.03.2012

"Rock Around Asia", a photographic essay of Southeast Asia off the beaten track by French photographer Eric Monteil, was opened in the lobby of the Imperial Queen's Park Hotel in Bangkok on March 9th 2012.

Eric took the images while touring the region on a motorcycle, the first time he had ever ridden one in his life.  He found himself with time on his hands and planned the endeavour by public transport before considering the two wheeled option, and although many of his friends thought him crazy for undertaking such a venture without prior motorcycle experience, set off regardless.

The exhibition features striking images in colour and black and white depicting the people and sights he met along the way.
